Dear EuroMeds Enthusiast,

We are extremely excited to share with you the first ever issue of EuroMeds Online, which was created in collaboration with the Medical Science Pillar. This issue about SDG3 was made with commitment, devotion and passion for the topic and we hope that we inspire our Readers to get involved in EMSA! After the Autumn Assembly Budapest, the Editorial Team worked hard to make the October issue happen and EuroMeds has now become a monthly magazine of EMSA. You can download EuroMeds Online on the brand new EMSA website.

EUROMEDS ONLINE: CALL FOR CONTIBUTORS

EuroMeds goes on and now we are looking for Contributors to work together with our Editorial Team for the new, November issue of EuroMeds Online. This time we have a collaboration with the Public Health Pillar.

The theme of the NovemberEuroMeds Online is: Health and Food

In today’s Europe, six out of the seven biggest risk factors for premature death (blood pressure, cholesterol, Body Mass Index, poor diet, physical inactivity and alcohol abuse) relate to how we eat, drink and move. During the last century we have witnessed the epidemiological shift of morbidity and mortality from infectious diseases and malnutrition to chronic diseases related to lifestyle. While we are living longer than our ancestors, we are also spending most of these years living with chronic diseases.

There is an overwhelming evidence that lifestyle factors such as poor diet, physical inactivity, tobacco use, excessive alcohol consumption and psychosocial characteristics, are key factors in the pathogenesis and incidence of non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular-, respiratory-, metabolic syndromes, different types of cancer and even clinically severe obesity.
In a fast changing world and global trends, as medical students, we believe that we should contribute to the promotion of a healthy, accessible and varied diet as it is a key factor in improving health and quality of life of the population, in order to ensure healthy ageing and reduce health inequalities.

If you feel connected to one of these topics, or have an idea that is related to the main theme, do not hesitate to submit an article for the November issue. It is important that if you would like to submit an article, please send us an email in advance (at least one week before the submission deadline).
